DISCOVER KIELDER | ULTRA
Bolting on to our existing Kielder weekend, is our very first ultra. This will be held on Saturday 20 March, the day before the final Collective trail of the season.
Discover both the natural and manmade beauty of Kielder throughout our 46km course. A journey of discovery of everything the Lakeside Way has to offer. You will collect more than just memories, with physical souvenirs to collect along the way.
Do you want to participate in the Ultra but still complete The Collective? We will be hosting a special Ultra Legends walking wave on the Sunday so you can still earn your final medal without having to break stride again.
There will be opportunities for you to mix up how you complete the event; the full distance with your dog, only certain sections or swap dogs. We will also be offering the opportunity to complete the distance as a team relay, with an approximate split of distance of 6km-15km - 25km .
Individual Entrants
If you wish to swap dogs or give your dog a break for one of the stages, this must be co-ordinated by yourself with friends/family. The 2 main aid stations (and the start of the 2nd and 3rd stage), are at Kielder Castle and Hawkhope Car Park.
We will transport any bags/kit/specific nutrition you want to be at the aid stations, but we won’t be able to facilitate dog swaps.
Team Relay
There will be no transportation service for this. Teams will need to organise dropping of vehicles at the aid stations if required. The entry asks for the team members in order, but this can be changed at a later date if you are unsure. We have purposefully started with the short distance first, to enable all team members time to get back to the finish to finish as a team together.
We will be adding a FAQ section about this event soon.
Do I have to run the whole distance?
No, as with all our events, you can run or walk. We will have 2 aid stations set up where we will have fuel to help you on your way. We can also transport bags for you if you want your own fuel and change of clothing.
Can I run without a dog?
Yes. You can run with a dog for the full distance, some of the distance or not at all.
If you wish to swap dogs in or out at aid stations, this must be organised with friends/family. We are unable to transport dogs to and from aid stations.
What if I DNF?
If something happens on the trail and you are unable to continue, we will organise transport back to the finish for you and your dog.
You will be wearing a tracker so we will be able to trace you at all points on the course.
I have entered The Collective, can I upgrade my Kielder Sunday entry to the Ultra?
If you have entered The Collective as a whole, we are unable to change your Kielder entry to the Ultra. This is because of the discount for entering all 5 and your free season tee. There will also be a jigsaw medal for the series, so you would miss out on this!
We will be holding a special walking wave for those who wish to still participate on the Sunday after completing the ultra on the Saturday.
If you have entered the Kielder event on the Sunday, but not part of The Collective, and would like to switch over, please get in touch at info@traildogevents.co.uk
Is transport included for the team relay?
No, to participate in the team relay, you will need to organise your own transport. Handover locations are at Kielder Castle and Hawkhope Car Park, so you will need to organise car drops/lifts before the start.
The last stage is 15km, which should allow plenty time for the other team members to get back to the finish to cheer their last member across the line (or join them hand in hand).
Can I enter the team relay as a pair?
Yes, you can enter the team relay with 2 people instead of 3. You would need to organise your own transport to facilitate this.
You are able to complete stage 1 and stage 2 seperately and then stage 3 together.
